Distal hydrosalpinx explained

A distal hydrosalpinx is a blocked, fluid-filled fallopian tube near its end, sometimes affecting fertility or causing pelvic symptoms. It may be found during fertility investigations or imaging, even when symptoms are limited.

The tube can become sealed after inflammation or scarring. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is one possible cause; previous pelvic infection, surgery, or endometriosis may also be relevant. Fluid in the tube can interfere with the passage of an egg and sperm, and a clinician will interpret the finding alongside your fertility goals and other test results.
