What should you know about diode fiber laser?

A diode laser creates light at a selected wavelength. A fibre delivery system guides that light to the treatment handpiece, allowing the clinician to position energy accurately over the chosen area. In laser hair removal, the target is pigment in the hair, and absorbed energy produces heat around the follicle. The response depends on hair colour, thickness, skin tone, treatment area and device settings.

A laser name does not by itself tell you whether a procedure is appropriate. The same platform may have different handpieces, cooling methods and protocols, so ask which configuration is being used for your indication.

Have a consultation that includes skin-tone assessment, recent tanning, medicines, sensitivity to light, scarring history and the area to be treated. Follow instructions about shaving, sun exposure and products. Do not pluck or wax hair if the planned treatment needs the follicle pigment as a target, unless your clinician gives different advice.

During treatment, use the eye protection provided and report unusual heat or sharp discomfort immediately. Afterward, follow the cooling and sun-protection instructions and avoid irritating products until the skin has settled.

Contact the clinic for blistering, marked swelling, increasing pain, crusting or colour change that is more than you were told to expect. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling or eye symptoms after treatment. Do not apply unapproved creams to a suspected burn without medical advice.
