What should you know about Dermalure TCA peel?

TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, is placed on the skin in a controlled clinical setting. The solution causes a predictable injury to targeted surface layers, followed by shedding and new skin formation during healing. Treatment depth depends on concentration, application and the area treated. It may be considered for sun spots, sun-damaged skin, some acne-related marks and uneven texture. It is not a universal treatment for every dark patch or active skin disease.

Tell the clinician about cold sores, eczema, recent tanning, active infection, medicines and previous pigment changes. Use the preparation advised and do not pick or peel flaking skin. Keep the area protected from sun, use the recommended bland moisturiser and avoid unapproved acids, scrubs and hair removal while the skin is healing. Darker skin tones may need especially careful planning because inflammation can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for worsening pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, extensive blistering or delayed healing. Urgent assessment is appropriate for facial swelling that affects breathing or vision. A new or changing pigmented lesion should be examined before a cosmetic peel is considered.
