What should you know about dermabrasion microneedling?

A pen with fine sterile needles passes over the skin at a selected depth. The punctures stimulate a wound-healing response and can improve the appearance of some acne scars, uneven texture, fine lines, and selected pigment concerns over a course of treatments. It is not the same procedure as dermabrasion, which physically abrades the surface.

Treatment depth, needle movement, skin condition, and technique affect redness and recovery. Melasma and sun-damaged skin need particular care because inflammation and ultraviolet exposure may make uneven colour more noticeable.

Choose a qualified clinician who can explain the needle depth, sterile technique, device, and reason for treatment. Tell them about active acne, eczema, cold sores, medicines that affect healing, and any tendency to form raised scars. Arrive with clean skin and follow instructions about pausing irritating products.

After treatment, use the recommended gentle cleanser and moisturiser, avoid picking or exfoliating, and protect the area from sun. Redness, tightness, mild swelling, and pinpoint bleeding can occur, but the exact recovery varies with depth and skin sensitivity. Do not use a home device on inflamed or infected skin.

Contact the clinic if redness intensifies instead of settling, pain becomes severe, swelling spreads, or the skin develops pus, fever, extensive blistering, or darkening that continues to worsen. A new rash, cold-sore-like cluster, or persistent texture change also deserves review before another session.
