Does dengue have a particular time of day?

Body temperature, activity, hydration, sleep and the timing of medicines can all make fever or aches feel different in the morning, afternoon or evening. Dengue may cause fever, headache, chills, muscle aches and joint pain, but the clock does not distinguish dengue from other infections. Mosquitoes that transmit dengue can bite during daylight as well as around other parts of the day, so limiting exposure should not be restricted to nighttime.

Write down when fever rises or settles, your temperature if measured, fluids taken, urination, vomiting, pain, rash and any bleeding. Note when medicines were taken so changes are easier to interpret. Rest, drink small amounts often, use mosquito-bite protection, and ask a clinician which fever medicine is appropriate. Arrange assessment if fever continues or symptoms are becoming harder to manage; testing decisions depend on the illness stage, not simply morning versus evening.

Seek urgent care at any time for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding, black stools, breathing difficulty, fainting, confusion, unusual drowsiness, or inability to drink. A drop in fever does not by itself mean the illness is resolving, so continue observing for new warning signs and take worsening symptoms seriously.
