Dengue symptoms after how many days?

A person may feel well for a period after infection before fever, headache, muscle aches, joint pain or chills appear. A fever is a common presentation of dengue, but fever alone cannot confirm the condition. Easy bruising or unusual bleeding needs prompt medical attention. Symptoms may overlap with other infections, so the date of possible mosquito exposure, travel, fever pattern and other symptoms help a clinician decide whether testing or observation is appropriate.

Rest and drink fluids regularly, taking small amounts often if nausea is present. Record when fever began, how it changes, and any vomiting, abdominal discomfort, rash, bruising or bleeding. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen unless a clinician specifically tells you to use them, because they can increase bleeding risk; ask a pharmacist or clinician which fever medicine is suitable for you. A falling fever does not always mean the illness has settled, so worsening symptoms around that change should be assessed promptly.
