What should you know about dengue rash description?

Skin changes can look like scattered pink or red areas, sometimes with small areas of normal skin between them. The appearance and timing vary, and a rash can occur with fever, headache, muscle aches, or joint pain. Similar rashes arise from other infections, medicines, and skin conditions, so visual inspection cannot establish the cause.

Take a clear photograph in good light and note when the rash started, where it spread, and whether it itches or hurts. Keep drinking fluids and avoid starting new medicines without advice. Arrange a GP Consultation for fever with a new rash, particularly after travel or mosquito exposure.

Get urgent care if the rash is accompanied by bleeding, easy bruising, severe belly pain, repeated vomiting, marked weakness, confusion, breathing trouble, or difficulty drinking. Do not wait for the rash to become more obvious before seeking help when you feel rapidly worse.
