Dengue, itchy palms and feet: home remedies

Itchy palms or feet can occur with a skin reaction, dryness, an evolving rash or another condition; it does not confirm dengue by itself. Dengue more commonly causes Fever, headache, muscle aches and joint pain, while some people develop a rash as the illness changes. Easy bruising or bleeding is more concerning than itch alone. Because dengue can affect fluid balance and bleeding, avoid assuming a home remedy has treated the infection.

Keep the skin cool with a clean, cool damp cloth and avoid hot showers, vigorous rubbing, fragranced products and scratching. Apply a plain moisturiser if the skin is dry, keep nails short and drink fluids regularly if you can. Do not start aspirin, ibuprofen, steroids or herbal products without clinical advice. Arrange a GP Consultation if dengue is suspected, the itch is spreading, or a rash is changing.

Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the lips or tongue, faintness, confusion, severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding, easy bruising or inability to drink. A rapidly spreading rash with a high Fever also needs prompt assessment. Itching that is uncomfortable but stable can still be discussed with a clinician, especially if you have taken several medicines.
