Dengue fever temperature range

Dengue fever can cause a high temperature, but the reading varies and cannot confirm dengue on its own. Fever may come with chills, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, or marked tiredness. Record readings with the time, method, and any medicine taken so a clinician can see the pattern.

A fever that falls may be followed by a period when complications become more likely, so temperature alone is not a reliable measure of recovery. A person may feel cooler while developing abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding, restlessness, or unusual sleepiness. Dengue is assessed using symptoms, examination, exposure history, and testing when appropriate.

Rest, drink frequent small amounts of fluid, and check your temperature with a working thermometer. Follow medical advice about fever relief; avoid aspirin or ibuprofen unless a clinician specifically says they are suitable because bleeding can be a concern. Arrange a GP Consultation if dengue is possible, especially after travel or mosquito exposure.

Get urgent help for severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding, faintness, breathing trouble, confusion, cold or clammy skin, or difficulty drinking and passing urine. Do not wait for the temperature to rise again if these symptoms occur.
