What should you know about dengue carrying mosquito?

The mosquito becomes infected after feeding on someone who has dengue virus in their blood. It can then pass the virus to another person through a later bite. A bite itself does not confirm infection, and many mosquito bites do not transmit dengue. Dengue can cause fever, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, chills, or unusual bruising. Symptoms can begin after an interval, so note when the bite occurred and watch how you feel.

Use insect repellent as directed, wear loose clothing that covers skin, and use screens or a bed net where practical. These measures help protect you and reduce the chance that a mosquito could bite you and then spread virus onward. Drink fluids if you become unwell, rest, and keep a record of symptoms.
