What should you know about decrease cellulite?

Short answer
Cellulite can be softened in appearance through realistic lifestyle measures and selected procedures, although texture may return over time.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

- Key point
- Cellulite is a structural texture pattern, not an infection
Why cellulite appears
Cellulite creates dimpling when bands of connective tissue pull the skin downward while fat presses upward. It commonly affects the thighs, buttocks, hips and sometimes the abdomen. Genetics, skin elasticity, muscle tone and changes in body composition can influence how visible it is. Cellulite is not the same as an infection or a sign that the skin is unhealthy, and it can occur in people of different body sizes. Sudden one-sided swelling, pain or redness suggests a different problem.
What may help
Regular resistance exercise can strengthen the muscle beneath treated areas and may improve overall contour; balanced nutrition supports general health. Creams and massage may temporarily change surface appearance but do not release connective bands. A clinician can explain options such as Carboxytherapy, Radiofrequency Skin Tightening, RF Microneedling or Subcision. These procedures work differently: some heat or remodel tissue, while subcision releases selected fibrous attachments. Suitability depends on skin quality, dimpling pattern, medical history and expectations. Discuss risks, aftercare and whether maintenance treatment may be needed.
When to seek care
Seek medical assessment if a dimpled area becomes newly painful, hot, rapidly swollen, bruised without explanation or associated with fever. A firm lump, a fast change on one side or swelling that does not settle should not be labelled cellulite without examination. After a procedure, contact the treating clinic about spreading redness, increasing pain, pus, skin colour change or fever.
Questions for your doctor
Ask which tissue feature is creating the dimples, what improvement is realistic for your pattern, and whether the procedure affects skin laxity, fat or connective bands. Clarify downtime, bruising, number of appointments, aftercare and what happens if the texture changes again.

Questions people ask
Will losing weight remove cellulite?
Weight change may alter contour, but cellulite is also shaped by connective tissue and skin structure, so it may remain.
Do cellulite procedures suit everyone?
No. Skin laxity, dimpling pattern, health history and treatment goals determine whether a procedure is appropriate.
