What should you know about dark orange color urine?

A small amount of fluid, sweating, exercise, vomiting, or diarrhoea can concentrate urine and make yellow deepen towards orange. Dehydration is more likely when you also have thirst, dry mouth, headache, or dizziness. Heat exhaustion can cause heavy sweating, weakness, nausea, and dark urine after heat exposure.

Some medicines, vitamins, and food pigments alter urine colour. Orange-brown urine with yellow eyes or skin, pale stools, nausea, or discomfort in the upper abdomen may indicate a liver or bile problem, including hepatitis A or hepatitis B. The shade itself is not enough to diagnose a condition; timing, associated symptoms, and whether it clears with normal drinking are useful clues.

Drink fluids steadily if you can do so safely, and see whether urine becomes lighter as the day progresses. Review any new medicine, supplement, or strongly coloured food, but do not stop prescribed treatment without professional advice. Record when the colour started, whether it is orange or brown, how often you pass urine, and any pain, fever, or change in your skin or eyes.
