SP refers to a single-port approach. The system holds a camera and slender instruments that enter through one access point, while the surgeon sits at a console and directs their movement. The equipment does not make treatment decisions or operate independently. Suitability depends on the operation, the body area, the surgeon’s training, and your health history.

Ask which part of your operation would use the system and whether another minimally invasive or open approach is more suitable. Discuss previous operations, medicines, allergies, sleep or breathing problems, and any condition that may affect anaesthesia or healing.
