CO2 laser level: how treatment intensity is chosen

A clinician may adjust energy, pulse pattern, coverage and treatment depth. A lighter approach affects the surface more gently and often involves a shorter recovery, while a deeper approach creates more controlled injury to remodel texture or scar tissue and may require more healing time. The appropriate setting depends on the target problem, body area, skin tone, previous treatments, healing history and tolerance for downtime. The same device can therefore be used at different settings for different patients.

Share your medical history, current medicines, recent tanning, active rash, cold sores and any past reaction to procedures. Stop or continue products only as directed, because retinoids, exfoliants and irritating products may affect preparation. Plan time for the expected redness, peeling or sensitivity, and arrange the recommended cleanser, moisturiser and sun protection before treatment. Ask the clinician to describe the intended depth in plain language.

Call the treating clinic if discomfort, swelling, crusting or redness becomes more intense after it had begun to improve. Urgent assessment is appropriate for fever, spreading redness, pus, severe swelling, eye symptoms or breathing difficulty. Persistent darkening, lightening or textural change should be reviewed rather than treated with unsupervised products.
