Clarins hyaluronic acid and joint injections are not the same

A cosmetic serum or cream should be used only as its label directs. It must not be injected, put into a joint or treated as a substitute for an orthopaedic product supplied and administered by a qualified clinician.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in tissues and is also used as an ingredient in different manufactured products. In skincare, it acts at the skin surface as part of a cosmetic formulation. An orthopaedic injection is a sterile medical product placed into a selected joint for a specific clinical purpose.

Sharing an ingredient name does not make the products interchangeable. Their concentration, additional ingredients, sterility, handling and intended destination differ. A skincare product does not treat cartilage damage or provide evidence about whether an injection is suitable for joint pain.

For a Clarins skincare product, read the full ingredient list and directions, patch-test if the label recommends it, avoid broken or irritated skin, and stop use if a reaction develops. Eye-area instructions and expiry guidance are specific to the individual formulation.

For joint pain, seek an examination that identifies the painful structure and considers movement, strength and other treatment options. If an injection is discussed, tell the clinician about allergies, medicines, infections, skin problems near the planned site and previous reactions to injections. Never transfer a cosmetic product into another container for medical use.

Stop a topical product and obtain advice if irritation is pronounced or does not settle after washing it off. Seek emergency help for facial or throat swelling, breathing difficulty or faintness. After a joint injection, urgent assessment is needed for fever, worsening severe pain, marked warmth, spreading redness, drainage or rapidly increasing swelling around the joint.

For a skin reaction, ask which ingredient may be responsible and what can be applied safely while the skin recovers. Before a joint procedure, ask what diagnosis is being treated, what improvement would be meaningful, what alternatives fit your condition, how activity should change afterward and which symptoms require urgent review.
