What should you know about Cepacol Extra Strength?

A lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth and may ease throat pain or irritation for a while. It does not establish why the throat hurts or replace treatment for a bacterial infection, breathing problem or another condition. Check the product packaging for its active ingredients, age guidance, directions and warnings, because formulations can vary by market.

Sore throat can occur with Common Cold, Influenza, COVID-19, Strep Throat, Tonsillitis, Glandular Fever, Acid Reflux or Allergic Rhinitis. The presence of a sore throat alone does not identify one cause.

Follow the package directions and allow the lozenge to dissolve; do not chew or swallow it whole. Do not exceed the labelled use, share it, or give it to a child who may choke. Ask a pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, have allergies, take other medicines or have trouble swallowing. Warm fluids and rest may also reduce irritation.

Get urgent help for difficulty breathing, drooling, inability to swallow fluids, swelling of the tongue or face, or a rapidly worsening throat. Arrange medical review for severe pain, dehydration, a rash, high temperature, swollen neck glands, or symptoms that do not improve. Antibiotics are not appropriate for every sore throat.
