Causes of Pimples on the Forehead

Hair oils, styling creams, dry shampoo, hats, helmets, and tight headbands can transfer residue or create occlusion along the hairline. Heat and sweat may aggravate follicle inflammation. Small, similarly sized bumps around hairs can fit folliculitis, while mixed blackheads and whiteheads are more typical of acne. Itchy or burning redness around the mouth suggests a different pattern such as perioral dermatitis. Forehead location alone does not establish the diagnosis.

Rinse after heavy sweating, wash hats and headbands, keep hair products away from the forehead, and cleanse gently without scrubbing. Avoid picking, which can push inflammation deeper. Test changes one at a time so you can identify whether a styling product or headwear is involved. If bumps continue, a dermatologist can match treatment to acne, folliculitis, or another cause; LED Light Therapy may be considered for selected acne care.

Seek an assessment for deep painful spots, scarring, repeated hairline flares, or a rash that does not improve after removing an obvious irritant.
