Can Calmoseptine treat a vaginal yeast infection?

Calmoseptine is a moisture-barrier ointment intended for certain irritated skin surfaces. It is not an antifungal medicine. Applying it to the vulva might mask irritation or create a cooling sensation, but it will not clear vaginal thrush. Menthol and other ingredients may sting sensitive genital tissue, and the product should not be inserted into the vagina. Vaginal itching or discharge can also come from irritation, bacterial imbalance, a sexually transmitted infection or a skin condition rather than yeast.

For a suspected yeast infection, ask a pharmacist or clinician about an antifungal formulated for vaginal thrush and explain whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking other medicines or having repeated symptoms. Use treatment exactly as directed. Wash the vulva gently with water or an unperfumed cleanser, pat dry, wear breathable clothing and avoid douching or fragranced products. If Calmoseptine has already caused burning, remove the residue gently from external skin and stop using it.

Arrange an examination when this is your first suspected infection, symptoms keep returning, treatment does not help, or the diagnosis is uncertain. Seek prompt care for fever, pelvic or lower abdominal pain, sores, blisters, marked swelling, bleeding outside your expected period, painful urination, or foul-smelling, green or blood-stained discharge. Severe allergic swelling, widespread hives or breathing difficulty requires emergency help.

Ask whether the symptoms fit thrush or whether an examination or swab could identify another cause. Check which antifungal form is suitable for you and whether an external barrier product is appropriate for damaged skin. Mention recent antibiotics, diabetes, pregnancy, new sexual exposure, skin conditions and every cream used on the area, since each detail can affect the likely explanation and treatment choice.
