Bumps That Look Like Warts but Aren’t: What to Know

A rough, firm surface can occur with a true wart, but callused skin, inflamed follicles, molluscum-like lesions, and other growths may look similar. Notice whether the bump is spreading, changing colour, bleeding, tender, itchy, or clustered. Do not rely on photographs or squeezing to diagnose it.

Keep the area clean and avoid picking, shaving across it, or sharing towels and nail tools. Photograph the spot in consistent lighting and arrange a dermatology assessment if it persists or changes.
