Botox top-up appointments: what to know

Facial movement, muscle strength and symmetry vary from one side to the other, so a clinician may reassess the result and discuss whether a small adjustment is appropriate. Early unevenness can change as the treatment settles and does not automatically mean more product is needed. A top-up is not a way to correct every concern: lines visible at rest, lost volume or sun-related texture may need a different approach. Review the original treatment area, product and response before making a decision.

Bring the date and details of your previous treatment, and mention any new medicines, illness, pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, muscle symptoms or other injections since then. Describe what improved and what still bothers you, ideally using the same facial expressions each time. Do not arrange extra treatment through an unqualified provider or rush into an adjustment after a few days. A new drooping eyelid, marked facial asymmetry, trouble speaking or persistent difficulty chewing needs assessment before any further injections.

Has the first treatment fully settled? What specific area would an adjustment target? Could another injection increase heaviness or asymmetry? Would skin care, laser treatment or another option better address the remaining concern?
