Can Botox help a saggy neck?

The platysma can create vertical bands or a downward pull when it contracts. Botulinum toxin type A temporarily reduces nerve-to-muscle signalling at selected sites, which may make those bands less prominent. A saggy or crepey neck can also reflect reduced skin elasticity, changes in fat, or tissue descent. Botox addresses muscle activity, so the examination must identify which feature is most visible.

A clinician should assess the neck while you relax and move it, and should ask about any lump, pain, swallowing difficulty, or voice change. These symptoms are not cosmetic details and may need a separate medical assessment.

Bring a complete list of medicines and explain prior toxin or filler treatments, allergies, neuromuscular disorders, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any swallowing or breathing symptoms. Ask who will inject you, which muscles are being targeted, and what alternatives fit loose skin. Dermal fillers or skin-directed procedures may be discussed when support or surface quality, rather than muscle pull, is the main concern. Follow aftercare instructions and avoid pressing or massaging the area unless directed.

After an injection, obtain urgent medical help for difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe allergic symptoms, rapidly spreading weakness, or sudden vision changes. Contact the clinic for increasing pain, marked swelling, spreading redness, or a new voice change. A persistent neck lump, unexplained pain, or progressive swallowing problem requires medical review regardless of whether cosmetic treatment is planned.
