There is no single medicine name that is safe to choose for vomiting blood without urgent medical assessment, because treatment depends on where the bleeding comes from and how severe it is. Blood may look bright red, dark brown, or like coffee grounds. Even a small-looking amount can need prompt review, particularly when it follows repeated vomiting or occurs with dizziness, weakness, fainting, confusion, or black stools.

Vomiting blood, also called haematemesis, suggests bleeding somewhere in the upper digestive system, such as the food pipe, stomach, or first part of the small intestine. Forceful retching can irritate or tear tissue, but bleeding can also be related to an ulcer, inflammation, liver disease, or another condition.
