The name can cover different anchor designs and materials rather than one universal implant. Your operation note or implant record is the reliable place to identify the model used in your procedure.

A surgeon seats the anchor in bone and uses its attached or loaded sutures to hold a tendon, ligament or labrum at the intended attachment point. The anchor supplies fixation while the repaired tissue heals; it does not replace the tissue itself.

Anchor diameter, shape, material and suture arrangement vary. Bone quality, the amount of healthy tissue, access to the injury and the expected load all influence selection. Brand alone does not show whether an anchor suits a particular person or repair.

Before surgery, give the team an up-to-date medicine list and mention allergies, previous operations and any planned imaging. Ask which structure will be repaired, whether the proposed anchor is absorbable or non-absorbable, and whether that distinction affects later scans or procedures.

Afterward, follow the repair-specific restrictions even if pain settles quickly. A sling, brace, limited weight bearing or staged physiotherapy may protect the tissue-to-bone attachment. Do not advance lifting, reaching or sport solely because the incision looks healed.

Contact the surgical team promptly for worsening wound redness, drainage, fever, increasing swelling, pain that is escalating rather than settling, or a sudden loss of function after a fall or forceful movement. New numbness, a pale or cold hand or foot, breathing difficulty, or severe chest pain needs urgent medical assessment.

Useful questions include: Which anchor and material are planned? Why does that design suit my bone and tissue? What movements could overload the repair? When should physiotherapy begin? Will I receive an implant record, and could the device affect future imaging or revision surgery?
