What should you know about a Biocare 12-channel ECG machine?

The channels are different electrical views calculated from signals collected by electrodes on the skin. Together, they give a broader picture of the heartbeat than one tracing alone. Clinicians may use this pattern to assess rhythm and look for electrical changes that need correlation with symptoms, examination and other tests. The machine records activity; it does not itself diagnose the cause of an abnormal result.

A resting ECG works best when you lie still and relax your muscles. Wear accessible clothing and mention medicines, implanted devices, skin sensitivity or recent exertion. The staff may prepare small areas of skin before attaching electrodes. Avoid talking or moving during the short recording unless you feel unwell. Tell the technician if symptoms such as fluttering or dizziness occur during the test so the timing can be documented.

If you have chest pressure, severe breathlessness, fainting, sudden marked weakness or a heartbeat that remains very fast with dizziness, seek emergency care rather than waiting for a scheduled ECG. An ECG result is interpreted alongside the reason it was requested. A concerning symptom needs attention even if an earlier tracing was reassuring.
