Rest quietly, warm your hand, place the clip securely on a finger and keep still while the display settles. Remove dark nail polish if practical, repeat an unexpected reading and record the result with the time and your symptoms. Clean the device according to its manual and check the batteries. Do not use it to change prescribed oxygen, inhalers or other medicines without clinical advice.
