When cellulite feels severe or bothersome

Dimpling forms as fibrous bands tether skin downward while underlying fat pushes upward. Its visibility varies with anatomy, skin thickness, lighting and body position. A consultation should identify the dominant feature before any procedure is selected.

Book a medical assessment for a sudden contour change, a new firm lump, persistent pain, skin breakdown or swelling that is mainly on one side. Seek prompt care when an area becomes hot, red, very tender or rapidly swollen, particularly if fever or feeling unwell develops.

After an aesthetic procedure, follow the provider's aftercare instructions. Escalating pain, blistering, spreading redness, drainage, dusky colour or loss of sensation needs timely contact with a medical professional.

Ask whether tethering, skin laxity or fat distribution is driving the texture; which improvement the proposed method targets; and how long the effect is expected to remain visible. Discuss downtime, scar or pigment risks, the provider's plan for complications, and whether maintenance treatment may be needed.
