What to know about ARTAS FUE

The system helps identify and extract suitable follicular units from a donor area, commonly at the back or sides of the scalp. A trained clinician still plans the hairline, chooses the treatment area, supervises harvesting and places the grafts.

FUE removes follicular units through many small extraction sites rather than taking a strip of scalp. ARTAS adds digital mapping, magnified imaging and robotic assistance during parts of that process. It does not create new follicles or stop future hair loss. The final appearance depends on donor-hair supply, graft handling, placement angle, hair characteristics, scalp health and ongoing thinning.

Bring a complete medication and supplement list to your consultation, including medicines that affect bleeding or healing. Do not stop prescribed treatment unless the prescribing clinician agrees. Discuss scalp conditions, previous surgery, tendency to form raised scars and the pattern of hair loss in your family.

After treatment, follow the clinic's instructions for washing, sleeping position, activity and care of the donor and recipient areas. Small crusts, tenderness, swelling or temporary shedding can occur during early healing. Avoid picking at grafts, and attend planned checks so the team can assess healing and the longer-term pattern of hair loss.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain or swelling is worsening rather than settling, bleeding does not stop with the advised pressure, or you develop spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever, a widespread rash or sudden facial swelling. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, fainting, chest pain or other severe symptoms.

Ask which parts of the procedure the robotic system performs, who will extract and place the grafts, whether your donor area can support the proposed plan, and how future thinning could affect the design. Request realistic examples from patients with a similar hair pattern and hair texture, and clarify the aftercare contact process if a problem develops.
