Anti-cellulite treatments: realistic expectations

Short answer
Anti-cellulite approaches may soften dimpling temporarily or improve selected tethered areas, but no cream or procedure can promise complete, lasting removal.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why cellulite creates dimples
Cellulite is the dimpled or orange-peel texture produced by the relationship between skin, underlying fat and fibrous bands. It commonly appears on the thighs, buttocks and hips and is a cosmetic feature rather than an infection. Body size alone does not explain it, so weight loss may alter its visibility without removing the underlying architecture.
Creams mainly act at the skin surface and may moisturise or briefly change how texture looks. Procedures target different components: some heat tissue, some create controlled skin injury to stimulate remodelling, and subcision releases selected fibrous bands beneath a dimple. Because the mechanisms differ, a useful consultation starts with the type of texture rather than a generic “anti-cellulite” claim.
Choose an approach around the actual concern
First decide whether the priority is individual deep dimples, broader laxity or general surface texture. Regular movement and stable weight can support overall skin and body health but should not be presented as a cure. Moisturiser can make dry skin look smoother, while massage effects tend to fade. Avoid products that burn or inflame the skin.
For a procedure, ask what tissue it targets, how many sessions may be considered, what aftercare is needed, and how recurrence or incomplete improvement will be handled. Radiofrequency skin tightening and RF microneedling use energy in different ways; carboxytherapy involves gas delivered beneath the skin; subcision is an invasive release technique. Suitability depends on examination, medical history, skin condition and the pattern being treated.
Changes that are not typical cellulite
Seek medical assessment for a new area that is painful, hot, red, rapidly swollen, hard, bruised without explanation or associated with a wound or fever. Those features are not explained by ordinary cosmetic dimpling. After a procedure, follow the clinic's urgent-care instructions for worsening pain, spreading redness, discharge, blistering, skin colour change or feeling unwell.
Questions before a cosmetic procedure
Ask which feature is being treated, what degree and duration of change is realistic, and whether the clinician has experience with your skin tone and treatment area. Clarify anaesthesia, downtime, possible pigment changes, scarring, infection risk and what happens if the result is uneven or insufficient.

Questions people ask
Can exercise remove cellulite?
Exercise may change muscle tone and body composition, which can alter appearance, but it does not directly release every fibrous band that forms a dimple.
Do anti-cellulite creams work permanently?
Creams may moisturise the surface or create a temporary visual change, but they do not permanently restructure the deeper bands responsible for cellulite.
Is subcision the same as RF microneedling?
No. Subcision mechanically releases selected bands under the skin, while RF microneedling combines needles with radiofrequency energy to encourage tissue remodelling.
