Angina and atherosclerosis

Angina is the symptom pattern; atherosclerosis is an underlying artery process. Managing both means relieving episodes while reducing strain on the heart and slowing further plaque-related disease.

Atherosclerosis develops as fatty material and other substances collect within artery walls. The vessel can become narrower and less able to increase blood supply during walking, climbing, emotional stress, or other demands.
