What type of shock is anaphylaxis?

During a severe allergic reaction, immune chemicals can relax blood-vessel walls and make small vessels leak fluid into nearby tissues. Blood pressure may fall, so the brain and other organs receive less oxygenated blood. Swelling and tightening in the airways can reduce oxygen delivery at the same time. A person may develop flushing, hives, faintness, confusion, breathing difficulty, wheezing, vomiting, or collapse. Skin changes may be absent, so their absence does not rule out anaphylaxis.

Use an adrenaline auto-injector promptly if anaphylaxis is suspected and one is available, then call UAE emergency services. Follow the device instructions and note when it was given. Keep the person lying flat with legs raised if breathing allows; if breathing is difficult, let them sit with legs extended. Do not let them stand or walk.
