Considering AGNES treatment for syringoma

It is an elective procedure for a benign condition, so the decision should balance the desired cosmetic change against swelling, pigment alteration, scarring and incomplete clearance. The plan should be individualised when lesions sit near delicate eyelid structures.

A suitable candidate has bumps that a qualified clinician has identified as syringomas and understands that treatment is optional. The clinician examines their number, depth, distribution, proximity to the eye and the patient’s tendency toward post-inflammatory colour change or abnormal scarring.

Treatment may be postponed when the skin is infected, inflamed or not healed from another procedure. Pregnancy, implanted electronic devices, medicines that affect clotting and relevant eye or medical conditions require specific discussion; they do not all lead to the same recommendation.

Compare the proposed AGNES technique with observation, electrosurgery and resurfacing options. Ask whether a small test area would be informative for your skin and lesion pattern. Agree on the treatment boundary, anaesthetic approach, eye protection, expected appearance during healing and who to contact outside clinic hours.

During recovery, clean the area as directed and apply only recommended products. Avoid scratching, peeling crusts, heavy rubbing and unapproved makeup over broken skin. Pause exfoliants and retinoids until the barrier has recovered, and limit ultraviolet exposure with shade and appropriate sunscreen once the surface can tolerate it.

Get prompt advice if redness spreads beyond the treated points, discomfort grows instead of easing, or warmth, discharge, fever, blisters or tissue breakdown appears. Seek urgent care for a sudden change in vision, severe eye pain, rapidly increasing eyelid swelling or any breathing problem.

Book a routine review if colour change persists, a scar becomes raised or indented, or the bumps look different from their appearance before treatment. Do not attempt to puncture a remaining lesion or treat it with a home acid.

Ask how confident the clinician is that every planned target is a syringoma, how much improvement is reasonable, and which unwanted effects are more relevant to your skin. Confirm the operator’s experience with the eye area, the follow-up schedule and what would make them recommend stopping rather than repeating treatment.
