Seven days after a frozen embryo transfer

At this stage, the transferred embryo may have attached to the uterine lining and begun producing pregnancy hormone, but the timing differs between people and embryos. Mild cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, tiredness or light spotting can occur. These sensations may also come from progesterone, the transfer procedure or an approaching period, so having symptoms—or having none—does not confirm the outcome.

Take progesterone and any other prescribed medicine exactly as directed, even if you notice spotting or think a period is starting. Do not stop or change a dose without instructions from the fertility team. Use the pregnancy test on the date and in the way your clinic specified; testing too early can give an unclear or falsely reassuring result. Normal gentle activity is generally reasonable unless your clinic has advised restrictions. Avoid starting medicines or supplements without checking that they are suitable during a possible pregnancy.

Contact your fertility clinic promptly for bleeding that becomes heavy, worsening pelvic pain, fever, fainting, marked dizziness or persistent vomiting. Seek urgent medical care for severe or one-sided abdominal pain, shoulder-tip pain, trouble breathing, collapse, or bleeding accompanied by weakness. These warning signs need assessment regardless of whether a home pregnancy test is positive, negative or not yet due.

Confirm the exact testing date, whether the clinic wants a blood test or home urine test, and how results will be communicated. Ask whom to call outside clinic hours, which symptoms require immediate assessment, and what to do if a progesterone dose is late or missed. You can also check when medicines will be reviewed after the result and when the first scan would be arranged following a positive test.
