Tiredness at 30 weeks pregnant

Short answer
At 30 weeks, tiredness is common as pregnancy increases physical demands and makes restful sleep harder.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

The short answer
Low energy may follow broken sleep, the extra effort of carrying the pregnancy, or difficulty getting comfortable. It is still worth mentioning marked or worsening fatigue at an antenatal appointment because anaemia, dehydration, infection and other health problems can also cause it.
What tiredness can mean
Later pregnancy changes posture, breathing and sleep. Night-time urination, heartburn, leg discomfort or worry can interrupt rest, while ordinary tasks may require more effort. Tiredness alone does not identify a particular condition. Anaemia can present with fatigue, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness or looking pale, so your maternity team may review symptoms and blood-test results when appropriate.
Notice whether the change is gradual or sudden, whether rest helps, and whether fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, low mood or poor fluid intake accompanies it. These details help separate expected pregnancy fatigue from an illness that needs assessment.
Ways to manage your energy
Build short rests into the day before exhaustion sets in, reduce non-essential tasks, and accept practical help. Keep a regular bedtime routine, support your bump and legs with pillows, and make the room comfortable for sleep. Gentle activity such as walking can support sleep and wellbeing if your maternity team has not advised you to restrict exercise.
Eat regular balanced meals and drink enough that you are not becoming thirsty or passing dark urine. Continue pregnancy supplements exactly as advised; do not start extra iron simply because you feel tired, since the right treatment depends on whether iron deficiency is present. Avoid driving or hazardous work when sleepiness affects concentration.
When to contact maternity care
Contact your midwife or maternity unit promptly if fatigue is sudden, severe, steadily worsening, or comes with fainting, persistent dizziness, fever, a racing or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, difficulty breathing, vaginal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, a severe headache, vision changes, or sudden swelling of your face or hands. Seek urgent help if you are struggling to breathe, collapse, or have chest pressure.
Call your maternity unit immediately if your baby is moving less than is normal for your baby, stops moving, or has a changed movement pattern. Do not wait until the next day or use a home heartbeat monitor for reassurance.
Questions for your midwife or doctor
Ask whether your tiredness pattern suggests checking for anaemia or another cause, whether any medicines could be disturbing sleep, and which forms of activity fit your pregnancy. Describe when fatigue began, how it affects daily tasks, your sleep quality, and any breathlessness, dizziness, palpitations or mood changes.

Questions people ask
Can anaemia cause tiredness at 30 weeks?
Yes. Anaemia can present with fatigue and may also cause breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness or pallor. Your maternity team can decide whether a blood test or treatment is appropriate.
Should I push through pregnancy tiredness?
No. Pace demanding activities, pause before you become exhausted and avoid driving when sleepy. A sudden or disabling change deserves clinical advice rather than simply more rest.
Does tiredness explain reduced baby movement?
Your own fatigue should not be used to explain away a change in your baby's usual movements. Contact your maternity unit immediately if movement is reduced, absent or different.
