One Week After Embryo Transfer

One week after embryo transfer, symptoms cannot reliably show whether implantation has occurred; follow your clinic's plan. Mild cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, fatigue, light spotting, or no symptoms can all occur during this waiting period.

Sensations during this week often overlap with effects of fertility medicines and ordinary premenstrual symptoms. Progesterone can contribute to bloating, breast tenderness, constipation, tiredness, and changes in discharge. Light spotting does not establish whether treatment has worked or failed. Likewise, feeling entirely normal does not provide an answer. The clinic's scheduled pregnancy test is more informative than comparing symptoms with another person's experience.

Continue every prescribed medicine at the dose and time given by your fertility team, including progesterone, unless that team tells you to stop. Routine gentle movement is generally reasonable, while strenuous activity should follow your clinic's specific advice. Avoid testing earlier than the date provided: fertility medication and early timing can make a home result difficult to interpret. If a dose is missed, contact the clinic or pharmacist for instructions instead of doubling it on your own.

Contact your fertility clinic promptly for bleeding that becomes heavy, worsening abdominal swelling or pain, repeated vomiting, reduced urination, breathing difficulty, chest pain, fainting, fever, or feeling acutely unwell. Severe one-sided pelvic pain or shoulder-tip pain also warrants urgent assessment. These features matter because complications related to treatment or an early pregnancy may need examination rather than home monitoring. Use emergency services if symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening.

Confirm the exact testing date, how results will be shared, and whether medicines continue on the morning of the test. Ask which pain relief is acceptable, what to do after a missed or delayed dose, and which symptoms should trigger the clinic's emergency number. If you have spotting, describe its colour, amount, duration, and accompanying pain rather than relying on a photograph alone.
