Why is suture anchor used in rotator cuff repair?

Short answer
A suture anchor is used in rotator cuff repair to secure stitches in the upper-arm bone and hold the tendon against its attachment area while it heals.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Tendon-to-bone fixation
The rotator cuff is a group of tendons that connect shoulder muscles to the upper-arm bone. When a tendon is detached, repair aims to return it to the area where it normally attaches. The surgeon places an anchor in bone and uses its sutures to bring the tendon down to that surface. Some repairs use several anchors or more than one row of fixation, depending on tear size, tissue quality, and the chosen technique.
The anchor holds the tendon in position; healing must then develop between tendon and bone. It is therefore possible to have discomfort and limited shoulder movement even when the fixation is intact.
Supporting the repair
Wear the sling for the period prescribed and avoid actively lifting the arm until your surgeon allows it. Keep the incisions protected, use pain relief as directed, and perform only the exercises taught by your physiotherapist. Rehabilitation commonly progresses from protected movement to active control and later strengthening. Do not judge readiness by pain alone; shoulder force can strain healing tissue before strength feels normal.
When to seek care
Contact your care team about fever, spreading redness, new drainage, worsening swelling, uncontrolled pain, or numbness that is increasing rather than settling. Urgent review is appropriate after a fall or sudden shoulder movement followed by a sharp change in function or shape. Chest pain or difficulty breathing needs emergency care.
Questions for your doctor
How large and deep is my cuff tear? Where will the anchors be placed? When may I move the shoulder actively, drive, work, and begin strengthening? Which pain or weakness pattern should make me call sooner?

Questions people ask
Will the anchor restore tendon strength immediately?
No. It holds the repair while tendon-to-bone healing develops and rehabilitation rebuilds control.
Why must active lifting wait?
The shoulder muscles can load the repaired tendon, so timing is set to protect healing fixation.
