Why is laparoscopic surgery system used in laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy?

Working close to the ovary requires careful handling because the operation may need to balance cyst removal with preservation of functioning ovarian tissue.

The plan depends on the cyst’s appearance, size, position, symptoms, and whether there are concerns about its nature. Sometimes the surgeon may need to remove more ovarian tissue or change the surgical route if this is safer. A cystectomy is different from removing the whole ovary, so confirm which procedure is planned.

Ask how the cyst was assessed and what the surgeon expects to do if it cannot be separated from the ovary. Discuss fertility or assisted-conception plans, medicines, allergies, and previous operations. Follow instructions about eating, drinking, and medicines, and arrange help with transport and early recovery tasks.
