Why is C-arm fluoroscopy used in fracture fixation surgery?

The C-arm moves around the operating area and displays images while the surgeon works. This can show whether the broken bone ends are lined up, whether a plate, screw, rod, or wire is following the intended path, and whether the joint surface or nearby structures need another view. Imaging during the operation allows the team to make adjustments before the wound is closed. It supports surgical decisions but does not replace physical examination, the operation itself, or follow-up imaging when advised.

Share your medicines, allergies, pregnancy possibility, and other health conditions with the surgical team. Follow instructions about eating, drinking, skin preparation, and medicines. After fixation, protect the limb as directed, use walking aids correctly, and attend follow-up visits. Do not change weight-bearing or exercises because pain has improved; the bone and hardware need the recovery plan set for your injury.

Seek prompt medical advice for worsening pain, swelling that is rapidly increasing, numbness, new weakness, a cold or pale hand or foot, wound drainage, fever, or a cast or splint that feels dangerously tight. Emergency care is needed for severe breathing trouble, chest pain, fainting, or sudden loss of circulation or movement.

Ask which bone and joint surfaces are being aligned, what hardware is planned, how imaging will confirm the repair, when you may put weight through the limb, and which changes should be reported immediately.
