A gynaecologic oncologist specialises in cancers of the female reproductive system and can coordinate examination, biopsy review, staging, and treatment planning. Depending on the stage, tumour features, pregnancy considerations, and overall health, the team may include a surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, specialist nurse, and supportive-care professionals.

Surgery may be considered for selected cases, including radical hysterectomy. Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, or combinations may be discussed when they fit the cancer and the person’s circumstances. An HPV infection is a risk factor for cervical cancer, but symptoms such as bleeding after sex or bleeding between periods can have causes other than cancer.

Bring the cervical screening history, biopsy report, scan results, medication list, and questions about fertility, sexual health, and treatment effects.
