Blood may be bright red, dark or like coffee grounds. It can come from the oesophagus, stomach or another source, including cancer-related irritation, medicines or forceful vomiting. Appearance does not reliably show severity. Blood loss can cause weakness, dizziness, a fast heartbeat or fainting.
