When to worry about sore throat with COVID-19

COVID-19 can irritate the throat and may occur with cough, feverishness, blocked nose, tiredness, headache or changes in taste or smell. Symptoms vary, and sore throat alone cannot establish the cause. Monitor your overall condition, breathing and ability to drink rather than judging severity from throat pain alone. People with health conditions or weakened immunity may need earlier advice.

Rest, drink fluids and use suitable symptom relief according to the label or a pharmacist's guidance. Keep prescribed medicines available and monitor breathing, alertness and hydration.
