How heat rash behaves
Heat rash develops when sweat ducts become blocked, often in hot, humid conditions or beneath tight, poorly ventilated clothing. It may cause tiny red bumps, prickling, itching, or clear fluid-filled spots on the neck, chest, back, groin, or skin folds. A typical episode should begin easing when the skin is cooled and kept dry. Pus, increasing warmth, tenderness, crusting, or a bad smell may indicate infection instead.
Cooling the skin
Move to a cooler place, loosen clothing, and use breathable fabrics. Take a cool shower or apply a cool, clean damp cloth, then pat the area dry. Avoid heavy ointments, oily products, vigorous scrubbing, and activities that cause heavy sweating until the skin settles. Keep the room ventilated and change damp clothing. If the eruption began after a new product or medicine, mention that detail when seeking advice.
When to get help
Arrange medical review if the rash is not improving after cooling and drying, keeps returning, or makes daily activity difficult. Seek prompt care for spreading redness, pus, marked tenderness, swelling, fever, chills, dizziness, vomiting, confusion, or signs of overheating. Emergency help is needed for collapse, breathing difficulty, or severe heat illness. A clinician can distinguish heat rash from infection, allergy, or another skin problem.
Questions to bring

Questions people ask
Can I scratch heat rash?
Try not to. Scratching damages the skin and may increase irritation or allow infection to develop.
When should a heat rash be checked?
Have it assessed if cooling and drying do not improve it, or sooner if fever, pus, spreading redness, severe pain, or illness appears.
