When to worry about numbness and tingling with panic disorder

Short answer
Seek emergency help for sudden one-sided numbness, weakness, speech or vision changes, or severe chest or breathing symptoms; arrange review when tingling is persistent, changing, or unlike your usual panic episodes.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why panic can feel physical
Numbness and Tingling is a common presentation of Panic Disorder. A panic surge may make you breathe quickly or deeply, changing carbon dioxide levels and causing tingling around the lips, hands, or feet. Tight muscles and heightened attention to body sensations can make it feel stronger. Similar symptoms can come from nerve compression, migraine, medication effects, low blood sugar, or neurological illness, so a different pattern should not be dismissed as panic.
What to do during an episode
Stop driving or climbing and sit in a safe place. Let your breathing become slower and quieter, with a relaxed exhale; avoid forcing deep breaths or using a paper bag. Remind yourself that the sensation can accompany a panic response while checking for warning signs. Once settled, note the trigger, body areas affected, and how long recovery took. Keep using your agreed treatment plan and seek review if attacks are changing.
When to seek care
Call emergency services for one-sided numbness or weakness, facial drooping, trouble speaking, new confusion, collapse, severe headache, or chest pain with serious breathing difficulty. Obtain prompt medical advice for tingling that does not settle after the episode, causes falls, follows an injury, or occurs with persistent weakness. A clinician can distinguish familiar panic symptoms from another cause through history and examination.
Questions for your doctor
Ask how to recognise your usual panic pattern, whether treatment needs adjustment, and which symptoms mean you should call emergency services immediately.
