When to worry about nosebleed with allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis can irritate and dry the nasal lining. Sneezing, rubbing, forceful blowing, and some nasal treatments may make small surface blood vessels bleed. A nosebleed can also follow an injury, dry air, infection, or medicine that affects clotting, so recurring bleeding deserves a proper review.

Sit upright, lean forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose continuously while breathing through your mouth. Avoid tilting your head back, blowing your nose, picking, or strenuous activity soon afterwards. Treat allergy symptoms as advised and ask a pharmacist or clinician to check nasal-spray technique if irritation continues.

Arrange medical advice for frequent episodes, bleeding from both nostrils, easy bruising, unusual tiredness, or nosebleeds after starting a new medicine. Seek urgent care if bleeding is heavy, follows a significant injury, causes dizziness or faintness, or does not settle with firm pressure. Emergency help is needed for breathing difficulty or collapse.
