When should you worry about nausea if you have peptic ulcer?

An ulcer in the stomach or upper intestine can irritate the digestive lining and cause nausea, upper-abdominal discomfort, early fullness, or pain related to meals. Nausea alone cannot identify an ulcer; medicines, infection, reflux, and other digestive problems can feel similar.

Take prescribed ulcer treatment exactly as directed and tell your clinician about anti-inflammatory pain medicines, aspirin, supplements, and alcohol use. Choose smaller meals if large meals worsen symptoms, and keep fluids going in small sips. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice.

Seek emergency help for blood or coffee-ground material in vomit, black or tarry stools, sudden severe abdominal pain, a rigid abdomen, faintness, marked weakness, or confusion. Arrange prompt review if nausea persists, vomiting prevents fluids, symptoms are worsening, or you have unexplained weight loss or difficulty swallowing.
