When to worry about fatigue with glandular fever

Short answer
Fatigue is a very common presentation of Glandular Fever, but a new, severe, or worsening pattern needs medical advice.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why tiredness can linger
Glandular fever can leave the immune system recovering after the sore throat, fever, and swollen glands improve. Energy may return gradually, and trying to resume demanding exercise too quickly can make recovery harder. Sleep quality, appetite, mood, and hydration also influence how you feel.
Fatigue that changes suddenly, keeps worsening, or comes with a new symptom may have another explanation. A clinician can review your recovery and consider other causes when the pattern does not fit.
Supporting recovery
Rest when needed, drink regularly, eat simple nourishing meals, and return to school or work in stages. Avoid strenuous exercise and contact sports until a clinician confirms that they are appropriate, because the spleen can be enlarged during recovery.
Arrange a review if tiredness stops you managing daily activities, does not gradually improve, or returns after you felt better. Take note of fever, abdominal discomfort, sleep, and activity levels.
Warning signs
Seek emergency help for sudden severe pain in the upper left abdomen, fainting, severe difficulty breathing or swallowing, confusion, or inability to stay awake. Seek prompt medical advice for returning fever, dehydration, yellowing skin, or rapidly worsening weakness.
Questions for your doctor
Ask when you can safely increase activity, whether your recovery needs examination or tests, how to handle school or work, and which symptoms should trigger immediate help.
