When to Worry About Blood in Urine With Prostatitis

Inflammation of the prostate can irritate nearby urinary tissues and cause blood in the urine. Burning urination, a weak or interrupted stream, pelvic or lower back discomfort, pain with ejaculation, urgency, and fever may occur. Acute bacterial prostatitis can become serious quickly, while longer-lasting symptoms may have different causes. Visible blood should not be attributed to prostatitis without appropriate assessment.

Arrange a clinician review, particularly if the blood is new or returns. A urine sample can help check for infection, and the clinician may review the prostate and urinary flow.
