The appropriate option depends on symptoms, examination findings, pregnancy details and your preferences.

Your clinician should confirm the diagnosis and explain the available approaches, expected bleeding and cramping, recovery, and follow-up. Share any fever, pain, bleeding, blood group information, medical conditions, medicines or previous operations. Ask how the procedure is performed, what anaesthesia is planned and when you can return to normal activities. Emotional support matters after pregnancy loss; request help if you are struggling with grief, anxiety or sleep.

Get urgent medical help for heavy bleeding, severe or worsening abdominal pain, fainting, marked dizziness, fever, chills, foul-smelling discharge or feeling very unwell.
