When is subcision recommended for acne scars?

A subcision needle or cannula is placed under the scar to separate the bands that pull the surface downward. It is most relevant to rolling or gently indented scars that move with the skin, rather than scars that are mainly narrow and deep or raised above the surface. Active, inflamed acne should be assessed and managed because new breakouts can create further scarring. Different scar types may need different treatments, and one procedure may not address colour change, texture, or deep edges.

Bring a list of medicines and products, mention a history of slow healing or prominent scars, and describe any acne medicines you use. Seek prompt medical advice if treated skin develops spreading redness, worsening warmth, increasing pain, pus, fever, or bleeding that does not settle with gentle pressure.
