When is radiotherapy recommended for lymphoma?

Lymphoma includes different diseases, so the plan depends on its exact type, grade, stage, location and response to medicine. A limited area may be treated with radiation alone or after systemic treatment. Radiotherapy can also consolidate a good response in a site where lymphoma had formed a bulky mass. Ask which lymphoma subtype is being treated and whether pathology or imaging will change the plan. Share previous chemotherapy, transplant treatment, radiation, medicines and pregnancy possibility. Discuss skin care, fatigue, nutrition and activity with the team. Keep appointments for planning and review, and report new swelling, pain, fever or reduced function.

Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, inability to swallow, sudden weakness, severe headache, confusion, or rapidly increasing swelling.
