When Is Methotrexate Treatment Recommended for Psoriasis?

Methotrexate is a prescription medicine that changes immune activity and can reduce inflammation and rapid skin-cell buildup. A dermatologist weighs the severity and location of psoriasis, symptoms, joint involvement, previous treatments, other health conditions, and plans for pregnancy. It is not appropriate for everyone, and treatment requires regular monitoring because it can affect the liver, blood cells, or other organs.

Tell the prescribing clinician about liver disease, kidney problems, heavy alcohol use, infections, medicines, supplements, and pregnancy or pregnancy plans.
